Vamos con la que ha sido la canción del día. Un temazo incluido en el álbum "New Adventures In Hi-Fi" (1996) de R.E.M. El disco se publicó tras la accidentada gira de "Monster"(1994) en la que se vieron afectados por diversos problemas de salud, obligándoles a cancelar varios conciertos. Como el aneurisma cerebral que sufrió el batería Bill Bery durante una actuación y que a punto estuvo de costarle la vida. De hecho "New Adventures in Hi-Fi" es el último trabajo donde se puede escuchar a la formación original de R.E.M, pues tras su publicación Bill decidió abandonar la banda.Con este álbum los de Athens no lograron el éxito y ventas como en anteriores trabajos. Y aunque estaba lleno de estupendas canciones ("How the west was won and where it got us", "The wake up bomb", "New Test leper" o "E-Bow letter" (con la colaboración de Patti Smith)) llegó incluso a pasar algo desapercibido.
Esta rara e impactante canción titulada "Leave", cuya letra cantada por Stipe y arropada por un contundente sonido creado por ese loop electrónico que se repite a lo largo de todo el tema, es una de mis favoritas del disco y de la banda. Dura siete minutos (la más larga del grupo). Se incluyó en la banda sonora de la película "Una historia diferente (A life less ordinary)" y curiosamente no fue uno de los single del álbum.
Os dejo con un temazo que siempre me transporta a tiempos mejores. Una canción que comienza lenta pero que al minuto se convierte en un trallazo.
Recomendación: subir el volumen a tope.
